About us
Since 1953, Dr. Jean Bausch GmbH & Co. KG has specialized in manufacturing special articulating and occlusion test materials.
The development and production of special articulating - occlusion test materials designed to represent occlusal proportions on the masticatory surfaces as true to nature as possible, is the main characteristics of Bausch. As one of the world´s leading manufacturers in this domain, Bausch offers an extensive range of different articulating papers and articulating films in different shapes, sizes and colours.
All products are manufactured in Germany – high-end quality products with a lot of concentration on sales and marketing. All products are manufactured strictly in compliance with the European Medical-Device regulations and are constantly monitored by the quality assurance department.
Bausch products are used in more than 120 countries and sold by distributors and the subsidiaries in the U.S.A., Australia, Japan, Brazil and Korea.
In principle, the progressive colour transfer remains an important method for the accurate detection of high spots. The correct physiological recovery of the occlusion poses a challenge for every dentist and dental technician. Even the smallest high spots measuring just a few microns can cause dysfunctions (mostly pain dysfunction syndrome - TMD) in patients. Occlusal proportions are being constantly changed with every procedure. Therefore, an understanding of the synergy of the teeth in static and dynamic occlusion forms the basis of good dentistry. Achieving visible markings on problematic surfaces such as gold, metal alloys and ceramics, but especially on moist occlusal surfaces represents another challenge.
In this context, the new system OccluSense® has been developed by Bausch. It combines the traditional and digital method of registration of the pressure distribution on occlusal surfaces.
The intended use is for recording and presentation of the masticatory pressure distribution in order to localize relevant pressure points of the patient's entire dental arch.
The OccluSense device is being used in combination with a 60 micron thin single-use pressure sensor, colour coated in red, and is being applied exactly like a conventional occlusion test foil. The patient's masticatory pressure distribution is being recorded digitally in 256 pressure levels being displayed with the OccluSense® iPad App. The traditional colour transfer on the occlusal surfaces facilitates the assignment of the recorded data.
The occlusal conditions are recorded by the handheld device with the inserted sensor. The recorded raw data, generated during the occlusion test, is stored locally on the handheld device. Subsequently the handheld transmits this data via wireless interface to the OccluSense®-iPad-App. The OccluSense®-iPad-App saves and graphically displays the received data as a recording which is being stored in the patient management system of the iPad app. Recordings can be reviewed or exported any time.
In comparison to traditional occlusion test materials (papers, foils), the system does not only show the local premature contacts on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth, but additionally a graphical representation of occlusal pressure conditions on the iPad. It is possible to visualize the proportion of the masticatory forces of the entire dental arch and thus a support for the practitioner for further patient-oriented therapy planning is provided. Several recordings can be compared, e.g. before and after dental treatment, and can be saved on the iPad for documentation purposes.

Bausch...we make Occlusion visible!
Color is our business, quality our demand.
For over 70 years, we have been producing articulating and occlusion test materials for various applications in dental laboratories and practices.
As one of the leading manufacturers in this field, we offer solutions for dentists and dental technicians worldwide.
As a third-generation family-run business, we focus on developing innovations and continual product management.
We offer a wide range of papers, foils, silks, liquids and instruments that are manufactured exclusively in Germany.
In 2019, we expanded our range to include a digital occlusion test device, OccluSense®.
The OccluSense® system allows to visualize and record the patient's masticatory pressure distribution.
OccluSense® System by Bausch: Digital Occlusion
When evaluating the occlusal conditions of prosthetic restorations and implant-supported superstructures, it is useful to detect and correct unphysiological masticatory force distributions and premature contacts immediately during the treatment.
The battery-powered OccluSense system allows, in combination with the flexible, 60µm thin and colour coated pressure sensors, to record static and dynamic occlusion digitally. Additionally the colour coating of the sensor marks the occlusal contacts on the patient’s teeth.
Arti-Ceram Articulating Paper
Bausch Arti-Ceram Articulating Paper green 200 µm and 100 µm
In order to achieve an optimal colour adaption to the natural tooth substance, various types of ceramic are available, such as glass ceramic, zirconia ceramic and feldspathic ceramic. These materials are used for (temporary) crowns as well as for inlays and onlays and can be highly polished for an outstanding aesthetics. However, there are challenges for dentists when adjusting the occlusion with these highly polished materials, which are often produced using CAD/CAM technologies, as traditional occlusion test materials are often ineffective for checking the occlusion.
In order to be able to identify premature contacts effectively, we have addressed this problem intensively and decided for the proven colour GREEN, which has been established in dental technology for decades. This colour offers the decisive advantage of being clearly visible and rich in contrast on the aesthetic highly polished surfaces of these ceramics due to special colour pigments. Our Arti-Ceram product is available in two thicknesses, 200µm and 100µm, in strips and in horseshoe shape, and enables a precise adjustment of the occlusion to ensure the best possible function and aesthetics.
Arti-Pink Bite Wax
Arti-Pink Bite Wax by Bausch is used for precise bite registration and enables the exact reproduction of contours in the intercuspation. It is characterised by its excellent modelling properties. With a thickness of 3 mm, this extra hard wax is not only available as a 150 mm x 80 mm plate, but also in oval shape in the prefabricated sizes S, M and L.
In order to use Arti-Pink Bite Wax, heat the extra hard wax in hot water until it reaches a melting temperature of approx. 55° C. This makes it shapeable and ready for use for a precise bite registration.
Arti-Fol metallic Complete 12µ
Arti-Fol metallic Complete BK 328 combines the proven Arti-Fol metallic film black/red with a new and hygienically perfect cardboard holder.
Due to its special shape, Arti-Fol metallic Complete can be used individually on the left or right side or together for the entire dental arch.
The unique combination of a high-tech metal foil (Shimstock foil 12µ) and a two-sided color coating with micro-fine ground color pigments enables clear visible marking of all occlusal contact points.
Arti-Fol metallic Complete BK 328 marks contact points precisely and clearly on occlusal surfaces made of different materials and on natural teeth.
The material enables efficient occlusal adjustments, even on occlusal splints (bruxism) in static and dynamic which can be marked consecutively with only one foil due to the two different colors.
